Violet has already informed me that she is not going to eat any of the Thanksgiving dinner. Oh! And apparently stuffing "smells like old socks." Hahaha.
I am not making a Tofurkey this year, guys. Not an actual turkey either. I was going to have dinner here but we were invited to eat with Jeremy's parents. I am just making the good stuff: pumpkin rolls (which become side rolls amazingly quick!), candied sweet potatoes, cranberry stuffing. The easy stuff. I'll leave gizzard-removing duty to his mom. It's just not fair to expect a life-long vegetarian to pull gizzards out of a turkey.
I realize this doesn't even technically qualify as a post, but I just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to everybody! (Or Happy Eid al-Adha! Which is totally unrelated but happens to fall around the same time. And now you know.)

Hmm, I am a lifelong vegetarian and I am totally in charge of gizzards. Perhaps tomorrow I will stage a coup.
I used to be a vegetarian and somewhere about the time I moved down to Florida and found that at that time being vegetarian in the south caused way to much hunting for something that would qualify as a protein that wasn't peanut butter. There's only so much peanut butter a person can eat, you know. I left Florida a total meat-eating Neanderthal. Seriously. I don't even hunt for fruits and berries.
Perhaps this would explain why I'm sick so much (forget their doctors and their talk of clinical depression depressing the immune system--it's the meat).
Hmmmm.
You have a great Thanksgiving!
BTW, I had tons of fun getting mileage out of the small pox blankets when I was in England and they'd say they spent the day celebrating the fact that all of us were over here. To which Miss Sweetness and Light would reply: Yeah, and I'm thankful that my Native American ancestors had immune systems that somehow survived the gifts of the English.
You have a great Thanksgiving!
How does one make pumpkin rolls?
BuzzardBilly- Wow, I can't imagine going carnivore. I've never eaten meat. Ever! (I'm sure there was a bite of pepperoni in a pizza somewhere along the line, but never intentionally.) I just never had the urge to try it. I don't think I could at this point. (Especially after working in a deli a few years ago! Blech.)
Laoch- This is basically the same recipe that I use. Aside from the vitamin A from the pumpkin it really has no nutritional value at all, therefore I am drawn to it like a governor to a bribe. http://www.recipezaar.com/Pumpkin-Roll-II-5366
Annika- You should definitely stage a coup. I just can't bring myself to handle a gizzard. the whole turkey kind of freaks me out to be honest. I'm such a wuss.
Awww thanks Mary for the Eid wishes!!! :)
And happy thaksgiving to YOU!!!!!
have fun
