Art! Evolution! This Post Will Never Live Up to This Title! Look Anyway!

It is so cool to witness the evolution of your child's artistic skill as it goes from random scribbles to actually (somewhat) recognizable scribbles. I'll be honest, it helps that she can speak and tell me what it is, too.

So here is Violet's rendition of her Daddy and herself. Look! Two mostly circular figures as faces! And eyes where eyes would be! And even mouths! I'd say that is pretty impressive for a two-year-old. Not just because she's mine, I swear! Yeah, I know that even something as common as her saying "Thank you, Mommy" sends me into obnoxious praise mode. Still. Just look at that fantastic art and quit hassling me already.

And you know how temperamental artists can be. Look at this one:

Yeah, there she is hijacking the MacBook.

Cute.

It would be interesting to have her do the House, Tree Person drawing test. My mother was a child psychologist who specialized in testing children and this was one of the tests she always gave children.

I don't know. I see a budding Kandinsky, or perhaps a Miro.

Laoch- I'll have to look that up and give it a try.

Poetikat- Thanks, I thought so too. ;)

My little angel didn't reach that level of skill until 3 years, 2 mos. I know because I proudly wrote it on there, then hung it on the fridge (still there!). At 3.5 she has progressed to the entire family (including the bird), houses, sun/clouds and a few other tried and true themes. LOL

OK...the drawing...fabulous! If my kiddos got anywhere near the MacBook Pro...I'd loose it!

Oh, she's adorable. Whoever did "Nude Descending a Staircase" (can't remember off the top of my head, but Duchamp or something like it comes to mind), that's who I think the budding artist could grow to be. It's the extra lines that lead me that way.

BuzzardBilly- That is hilarious. I think it is the post before this one that I mention Duchamp!

My kid draws THE SAME LITTLE PEOPLE.

Weird. Or maybe it's just a sign that our kids are totally brilliant and are destined for greatness...

Amanda- I'll go with the latter! Its the only way I'm going to tolerate the attitude. Genius is the only excuse!
